In a series of strategic meetings in Seoul, Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn engaged with leaders of top South Korean conglomerates, advocating for increased investments in high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and sustainable development. The talks are part of a broader effort to deepen economic ties between Vietnam and South Korea, focusing particularly on advanced technology and digital industries.
During discussions with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn lauded Samsung’s significant contributions to Vietnam’s economy through investments, job creation, and support for local enterprises. He urged the tech giant to heighten its investment in high-tech sectors, aligning with Vietnam’s economic advancement goals. Roh affirmed Samsung’s commitment to Vietnam’s priorities, emphasizing the company’s role in digital transformation, technological innovation, and workforce development. Samsung has bolstered Vietnamese businesses with initiatives in smart factories, automation, and skill development programs.
Mẫn also met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, advocating for increased investment in semiconductors, AI, renewable energy, and emission-reduction technologies. He expressed support for SK’s plans to establish a large-scale AI center in Vietnam and its exploration of investments in energy infrastructure and AI data centers.
In talks with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo, Mẫn highlighted the more than $10 billion investment by LG Group in Vietnam, urging further collaboration with Vietnamese suppliers and advancement in technology and skills development. The company acknowledged Vietnam’s growing importance within its global production network.
Furthermore, Mẫn encouraged Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin to expand investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services, emphasizing the need for sustainability, green development, and adherence to ESG standards. The meetings underscore Vietnam’s proactive approach to attracting high-quality foreign investments and fostering robust economic cooperation with South Korea.
