Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ recently led a delegation to the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie, aiming to enhance cooperation between Vietnamese localities and northeastern Cambodia. The visit also focused on reviewing the activities of Vietnamese businesses and the living conditions of the Vietnamese-origin community in the area.
During discussions with local leaders, both parties explored the potential for expanding partnerships in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials underscored the strengthening ties with Vietnamese provinces, facilitated through cooperation agreements, business exchanges, and development projects. Kratie province, in particular, acknowledged the advancements in diplomatic and socio-economic collaboration with Vietnam, highlighting joint efforts in infrastructure development and the repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who perished during wartime in Cambodia.
Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ expressed appreciation for the contributions of Vietnamese enterprises engaged in agriculture, mining, and rubber production in Cambodia. He noted that these initiatives have not only bolstered local economic growth but also fortified bilateral relations. In Stung Treng, local authorities pointed out the province’s investment potential, particularly in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, and encouraged Vietnamese businesses to explore opportunities in these areas.
The ambassador also engaged with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community, addressing legal and livelihood concerns while urging adherence to local laws. He emphasized the importance of supporting education and sustainable development within the community. Currently, Vietnam stands as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors, with over 200 investment projects in the country, totaling approximately $3 billion in registered capital.
