Qatar Chamber’s First Vice Chairman, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, recently held a meeting with Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, to discuss bolstering economic and trade ties between the two nations. The meeting, which took place at the chamber’s headquarters in Lusail, revolved around enhancing cooperation between private sector entities in Qatar and Vietnam, exploring new investment avenues, and identifying key sectors for future collaboration.
During the discussions, Al Kuwari expressed Qatar Chamber’s support for the development of stronger partnerships and joint investment ventures between businesses from both countries. He also commended Vietnam on its robust economic growth, emphasizing the chamber’s commitment to facilitating greater economic ties.
Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep underscored Vietnam’s eagerness to deepen economic cooperation with Qatar. He noted that bilateral trade between the two countries surpassed $860 million in 2024, reflecting a $100 million increase from the previous year. The ambassador encouraged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam, particularly within the agriculture, food processing, and halal product sectors. He also highlighted the role of Qatar Chamber in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal goods in the Qatari market.
In a bid to further strengthen economic relations, the ambassador extended an invitation to Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026. Scheduled to be held in Ho Chi Minh City next September, this annual exhibition is a significant global trade event that focuses on sourcing, exports, and supply chain collaboration. It attracts international companies and industry leaders from various sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.
