Vietnam and France have pledged to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on enhanced cooperation across various sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. In recent discussions held in Hanoi, leaders from both nations examined the current status of their bilateral ties and committed to expediting the joint action plan that outlines their partnership goals.
Vietnam has specifically advocated for intensified collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and significant infrastructure developments. Furthermore, Vietnam has urged France to hasten the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to maintain its support in addressing the European Union’s “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood exports.
Identifying Vietnam as a pivotal strategic partner within the Asia-Pacific region, France expressed a keen interest in broadening cooperation in fields like nuclear energy, rare earth minerals, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. This alignment is seen as a key element in France’s strategy to strengthen its presence and partnerships in the region.
Both countries have also committed to enhancing their coordination on pressing regional and global issues. There is a mutual emphasis on promoting multilateralism, engaging in dialogue, and advancing sustainable development. These efforts are aimed at fostering a more stable and cooperative international environment, reflecting shared interests and goals in the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape.
