The deepening ties between Vietnam and Qatar are poised to enhance trade and investment opportunities, reflecting a mutual commitment to broadening economic collaboration. This development was pivotal during Vietnam’s recent National Day celebration in Doha, emphasizing the growing partnership between the two nations.
The event, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, was attended by key figures including senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep underscored the significance of this partnership, citing Vietnam’s ongoing development and its strategic alliances with Qatar and other global partners.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, Vietnam and Qatar have expanded their cooperation across various sectors such as trade, investment, energy, and telecommunications. The economic engagement between the two countries has seen a marked increase, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025, signaling robust business activity and investment prospects.
High-level interactions have further solidified this relationship, including the visit of Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both nations have expressed a strong desire to continue strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new avenues for economic partnership, focusing on sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and hospitality.
